What does that mean anyway? when someone says that, it implies that the other party has done something wrong, and that apologies and sensitivity need to follow. What a joke. I’ve about heard it all, people getting “offended” because someone’s said a word or opinion that they don’t agree with, so they throw up the banner of “I’m offended.” With no gauge of what’s right and wrong, we default into a new way of defining our consciences; weather or not you’re offended.
So, if we run with this thinking, we could sound the alarm on anything, as long as we feel ‘offended’ by it.
“I’m offended i had to wait in line this long” or “I’m offended you said I have to believe in Jesus to experience God in His fullness” or “I’m offended you eat meat.” So instead of issues being filtered through things like truth, righteousness & holiness, they run through filters more like “i like that” or “i don’t like that” or “i don’t agree.” Right and wrong get tossed around with whatever mood you’re in, and our world goes to crap. makes my head spin.
Oh how we need absolute truth. We need something steady, something concrete, that’s not going to waiver depending on a mood. We need something, someOne who will guide us so we don’t guide ourselves. If we don’t turn to God for this, I’m afraid we’re going to offend ourselves to absolute confusion and death.
